Do I really need to wait 2 months to have blood work done or should I insist on having it next week when I follow up with the surgeon?
Did you have any weird fuzzy brain moments post surgery? It is almost like a dizzy spell but different - weird brain stuff - maybe a fog - not memory related just a short "buzz" feeling.
Me, too but right side! Follicular Adenomas .. 2 of them abuot 2cm's ea. CONGRATS on benign!!!! They also found 2 incidental little papillary micro's when inside my right gland upon final biopsy .. so I am so glad you ended up with a diagnosis, but sorry it was Hashi's but glad not cancer.
Adenomas are overgrowth of thyroid tissue.

You had what I had, left hemithyroidectomy, Follicular adenoma, a gazillion nodules and extra bits, and Hashimoto's discovered whilst baring my neck to all in the operating theatre. Your other side will definitely have Hashimoto's. Sadly it attacks ALL of the thyroid, not just in one area. I too did not have any thyroid medication. Not till the other side was removed for a different reason.
Depending on the severity of the Hashimoto's you may be lucky and not need any medication for a while. Ultimately at some point in time you will. Hashi's destroys the thyroid. For some it is quick, for others it takes decades.
I am sure they will do an anti-bodies test, best to ask anyways. This will let the endo know how severe the Hashi's is and if you need medication. Often just a very small dose of thyroid replacement is needed to keep it at bay.
Waiting for information is a pain, but I hope that clears up some of your concerns
I agree, Try to make sure the endo is one that specializes in thyroid problems, not diabetese, as most do.
Definately time for an endo....unless you can find a good internal med doc. If you do look for an endo make sure he comes highly recommended.
It is soooooo hard waiting for test results....my heart is with you!
Love your kitty pic!!
