low T4 AND TSH

I've been Hyper for 5+years with several goiters.  5mg tapazole has keep everything "normal" (if there is such a think with thyroid problems).   Now I'm gaining weight and always hungry so I visited Doc.   My TSH is .2 and T4 is 4.8 (both low) and Doc say to continue on current 5mg dose.    Does this sound reasonable?

Hi,
I am new to this so hopefully others who are more experienced can answer your questions, but I am happy to share my opinion and experience. You said your doctor said to continue your 5mg dose, what medication are you on? If you are on a t4 only med, I would suspect a pituitary problem. If you are on t3, perhaps this is why your TSH is so low, it is not signaling to make more t4 (a storage hormone.) I am currently taking desiccated t3 thyroid, my TSH and T4 are also low, and  I continue to have lingering thyroid symptoms. Hope you find out the problem and find your perfect health soon!

Hi.  I am new to this so hopefully some of the others who are much more experienced with test results will answer those questions but just wanted to say hi because you might be in my area - are you at Camp pendleton?  I am in san Diego.  If you need any references to good people in the area I may be able to help - I think I have a really good endo. he's at Scripps.  Good Luck.
