nervous about biopsy!
I was getting a ct scan for chest pains and it came back that my chest and lungs were clear but they noticed a cystic mass on my thydoid and now I have to go in for a biopsy. What should i expect next?
As Lynn said, the biopsy itself isn't too bad. It's not fun, but not horrible. Don't hesitate to ask for more lidocaine (numbing agent) if you feel you need it. I drove myself home. My neck was a bit sore afterward, but after keeping ice on it for a little while, it was ok.

The biopsy itself isn't bad. You should find out the results within a few days.
In my case the biopsy wasn't definitive so I am having left lobe of thyroid removed (and possibly all depending on what they find).
Keep in mind that most nodules are NOT cancer, so just try not to worry while waiting for results.
