Hello, your FT4 is already below 50% of the range. The TSH is higher than it should be.
You could wait 3 weeks and retest to start the meds, but I would recommend a second opinion already. I personally would be more comfortable to be starting meds early than waiting.
The reference range for FT4 is .80 - 2.30 . So is it ok if I wait for 3 more weeks and start the med, depending on the results?
Hello,
your numbers are not terrible and your baby should be fine.
What is the range for tyhe FT4?
However, in pregnancy it is recommended to keep the TSH < 2.0, and FT4 ideally in the upper 1/2 of the reference range.
Many doctors would already start you on a thyroid med with this result. You could seek a second opinion on this.
Also, you will need to test your thryoid hormones every month now for the rest of the pregnancy. Thyroid requirements usually increase at least during the first 2 trimesters, so do not be surprised if you start meds and have to keep increasing them for a few months.
After pregnancy you may or may not need thyroid meds so will need to monitor closely.
Best wishes
