Hi I live in Mexico & along with dealing with depression recently, I was also diagnosed with sub-clinical hypothyroidism. My TSH & free T4 were within the normal range but my free T3 was below normal. I now take 1/4 tab of Novotiral daily & my labs are fine so far. (1/4 Novotiral tab = 25 mcg levothyroxine/5 mcg liotironina or cytomel). My problem is that I continue to suffer from anxiety. My depression has lifted but I have a 'knot in my stomach' or 'butterflies' on a very consistant basis. I looked up Novotiral on the internet and at one site under side effects it lists internal anxiety - a perfect description of this horrible feeling. This has been going on for months now & clearly is not going away over time so I finally decided to search for some help and suggestions & here I am.
My doctor said this medication targets T3 and I am not sure of other options so I figured I would start here before I had my check up soon so I could be better informed when I see him. My depression has lifted, I even asked my psychiatrist to change my antidepressant to one known to help more with anxiety (changed from zoloft to efexxor) & it has not helped. I am becoming more certain that the thyroid med is the problem. I am ready to just stop this medication even for a short term to see if it is really my problem. Not really sure if this is a good idea but I am confused & needless to say tired of living in a state of anxiety (basically what would be termed as free-floating anxiety). Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
