I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism about 4 years go. When I was 15 years old.
One day my parents noticed my right eye was bigger than usual, I was like "it's nothing Im sure"
I have always had lazy eye but I would be the only one to notice..
I started getting worried when my friends at school asked me if I always had a lazy eye..
Then I went to the doctor and he did some test and told me I had hyperthyroidism ...
I was devastated because he gave me some pills to take but my eye got so big that everybody was like "what the hell happened to you".
After a few months I started seing changes and my eye got better and looked a little more normal..My doctor told me that I didn't have to take any more medicine because i was better...but my eye still hurts and it's dry often...not to mention that it still doesn't look normal...also The vision on that eye has worsen and I'm worried it might get worse..
Is this called "thyroid eye disease?"
I would like to know if it would ever go back to normal, is there surgerys to fix my eye? What are the costs for these? Should I keep taking the medication?
Oh and I was only seing a normal family doctor...what specialist should I contact to help with this?
Thanks so much for whoever that takes their time on replying!! It's means a lot to me!
