possible thyroid or other hormone issue

hello  I have been having symptoms of hypothyroidism, particularly fatigue and inability to lose excess 10 pounds no matter what I do. body is not burning fat at all. interestingly, recently took short course of prednisone for allergic reaction and within 3 days fat melted away and got lean. anyone know why this would happen?

You should have your doctor order some simple blood tests to determine whether you have hypothyroidism or not.  The tests you need are Free T3, Free T4 and TSH.  You might also ask for thyroid antibody tests to determin if you have Hashimto's Thyroiditis.

Prednisone is a steriod and, typically, causes weight gain, rather than weight loss.
