do i have to be on synthroid?

got off of meds in august, since then tried twice to get back on and both times had reactions to the meds. I have been at 5.0-7.2 since october, do I need to be on synthroid?

Good that you will split the 25 mcg to see how that works; if it doesn't work, you can split it again into quarters, which is harder, but possible, so you'd have 6.25...... there may be a time that you'll have to ride out some symptoms in order to get used to the med.  It's not fun.

Have you had adrenal tests done?  Sometimes people who are ultra sensitive to thyroid med have adrenal issues that should be addressed first.

talked to my endo this morning and she decided to go along with the cutting the 25 mcg in half for at least the next half month or more to work up to the25mcg, so we will see how I take the meds this weekend, if bad again I will not know what to do

You have another thread going, to which I've responded a couple of times.  

Your levels of TSH are too high.  The new (10 yrs ago) range recommended by AACE is 0.3-3.0.  I remember that you are hypo, but very sensitive to med.

The only solution I've can see to your problem is splitting your dosage to get it really small, get used to that, then work your way back up.
