scan results

hi all,

went for the ultrasound scan today post TT for papillary carcinoma (unecapsulated), it was the remaining lymph nodes they wanted to look at due to the tumour being unencapsulated.

well i havn't actually got the official result back but she was talking to me as she did it and she said that some of the lymph nodes around where the thyroid was and just above are slightly enlarged (about 6mm) and abnormal looking. (not sure in which way)

she basically said it was slightly worring but should rescan in 4 weeks to see if they'd gone down as may be a reaction from surgery,

am having RAI soon anyway, so if there is any malignancy there shouldn't that show it? get rid of it?

any ideas??

Thankyou

love Helen x x x

Good luck with your RAI.  Like you said, it will get rid of any thyroid cells that may be lurking.

Not sure if RAI is done the same over the pond as it is here, but they did a body scan before my RAI that showed any and all remaining thyroid tissue.  They did another about 5 days after the RAI, as well.

Best of luck with it all - it's not an easy journey, I know.  Keep us posted!!! Sending prayers your way!
