snythroid

I'm on 50mg of snythroid and just had my blood work checked...said it's fine. I'm  a bit worried of the dose because I seem to have a lot of hair coming out and it appears to be thining.  I'm living in Jakarta and not able to get back to the States until March....was thinking of cutting my dose in half thinking I 'm on too high of a dose.

The dosage is usually in micrograms not milligrams.
50 is an awfully low dose, so you may well need going UP rather than down. Hair loss is common in hypothyroidism, but be aware, that it takes roughly a 6 - 12 week effect. So if you were really bad hypo back then your hair loss will be now. It is not an immediate effect, even though seeing hair on the brush sure feels like it!

Ask to get a copy of your last blood tests. Just because they say it's fine doesn't mean it is fine for you. Some people do great at so called 'normal' levels and others do poorly. (me being one of them!)

You can still ask a doctor in Jakarta to run thyroid tests for you, although you would likely have to pay for them.
