Why do you doubt you're suffering from a thyroid condition?
courtney is right, everyone is different, so the time frame for your hair loss to stop could be within few weeks or it could take a few months. It took a while for mine to stop falling out and even longer for it to start growing back in, but it's currently, almost as thick as it was before I became hypo.
Of course, if you don't have a thyroid condition, then starting thyroid medication will do nothing for hair loss; you'll need to find the cause and treat it.
I'm due on gettning my reports yet,I just doubt I'm suffering from thyroid. But thank you for your replies ! However is it true that once the levels become normal even the thickness of my hair I'll regain slowly?
Of course, everyone is different, but my hair loss dramatically slowed within about five weeks. I hope you find that to be true for you as well. Good luck.
You hair should stop falling out, once you get on thyroid replacement, but it won't happen right away. You have to get your levels where you need them, then symptoms will go away.
Once started on thyroid medication, it takes 4-6 weeks for the medication to reach full potential, though some symptoms may go away sooner and some may not go away for a long time.
If you have current lab results, it would be helpful if you'd post them, here so we can better assess your situation. Be sure to include reference ranges with any lab results, as ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report.
Have you started on thyroid medication? What med, what dosage and how long have you been on it?
