suggestions

Well I did the ultrasound, biopsy and now surgery is scheduled for Dec 8th on my thyroid....my pre surgery appt. with doc is Dec. 2nd...they are taking out the half with the 1.5 nodule in....
I need a list of questions to ask before surgery since you all have been through this.....I am scared to death as my
brother and sister both had thyroid cancer....there is a nodule 6mm on the other side.  My Ent is doing the surgery, asked him how many he has done and he said so far over a thousand....I have a second opionion apt. for Dec 1st, with another doc ENT different city he will be looking at the biopsy slides....
Any suggestions as I enter into this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much

Thanks for the input...I am thinking of taking the whole darn thing out with my family history don't want to have surgery again.....than I waver and wonder well what if its not cancer, they can't tell everything on the frozen section pathology, sometimes it takes weeks for conclusive results...so leaning towards telling him take it all.......

When I had my biopsy, they said it might be cancerous and thee went ahead and removed my entire thyroid and good thing they did BC in the pathology report after said I had a small cancerous spot on the other side too

I've never been through thyroid surgery before, but wonder if the biopsy came back as cancerous or why they are doing the PT?  They are probably only taking one lobe because the nodule on the remaining lobe is still quite small, but I'd have to ask them if leaving it, opens up the possibility of having to have another surgery later, since you have family  history of thyroid cancer.

There are some others on this forum who have had thyroid surgery, and hopefully, one of them will see your post and comment as well.  In the meantime, I am glad that you are getting a second opinion; that will be tomorrow and hopefully, will help set your mind at ease.

I know this is a very scary time for you, and I am happy to offer any help or comfort I can.
