Ok, first of all, I am new to this. I am 46 years old. In July I woke up one morning with a very sore neck. didn't think to much about it until later in the week and noticed some swelling in the base of my neck. I go to the doctor, she orders an ultrasound, results are a 4cm goiter on the right side and a 4 cm cyst on the left and several nodules thru out the thyroid. Feeling very restless swear to god I did not sleep for a week, blood work shows hyperthyroidism, try to get an appointment with endocrinologist, can't get in until January, so do blood work every month til I get in. The next month, I am so totally exhausted I can not get up blood work shows hypothyroidism, so I am still waiting to get into the specialist so another blood test the next month shows that my thyroid levels are normal, I finally get into the specialist early due to a cancellation. He tells me it is probably good that I got in early because with what my thyroid was doing I was probably going to crash anyday. I am given levothyroxin to take for 6 months, with blood work to be done every 2 months. They said I would feel a difference after taking the medication for 2 weeks, it has been 6 weeks, I feel no different, so I guess what I want to know is what do you all think?

Symptoms certainly sound like hypothyroidism.  Now let's have a look at those blood test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report..  The doctor is required to provide a copy upon your request.

It is a good idea to always get a copy of your lab reports and note on there how you were feeling at the time and what meds you were taking.  These become very valuable references for the future.  The doctor is required to provide you a copy upon your request.

If you will get the info and post results and reference ranges, then members can provide a much better response.

If you will take a few minutes and read through this link and tell us if you have any of these hypo symptoms, that will also help.

Please post your thyroid test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report.  Also, what medication are you taking and how much?

I know that it wasnt until I had a thyroid problem that I learnt what patience really was.  It took me a long time to get regulated.  Some days I felt like i was not going to make it, it was aweful-depressing-exhausting, and everything else. Hang in there.  After 6 months to a year--I AM A WHOLE NEW WOMAN but it took baby steps:(
