synthroid

On about 3 weeks of synthroid, .125 which appears to be my correct average dose based on my weight.  My biggest complaint is the freakin fatigue.    I see this report where a lot of folks have this fatigue.  Am i to assume that if this is successful the fatigue will just dissapear at one time in life?

yes I know.  only 3 weeks, and yes i have tried a lot of different things.  So please spare me the lecture on that.  Just trying to see my way through this medication and hopefully a ray of light.

Thank you

Not really Bruce.   Just that it has really become apparent to me that the meds are accumulative,  so I've had to take into account that the same daily dosage is accumulative so will be 'stronger' in about 4 weeks, plus taking into account that my thyroid is dying off at an unspecific rate.    I did have symptoms when taking the synthroid, and can only raise it by about half a tab per week, for a couple of weeks, before raising again.   My body has needed it, but, for me, any faster, and I get quite a jolt.

So, some days, and some periods of some days, I feel normal, and know the accumulation rate -v- the dying off rate is getting some balance - compared to feeling hypo all of the time, or jolted into sudden 'hyper' if I go too quick.     I can always confirm when I jump on the scales, as my weight is so, otherwise, stable - up to 2 kg higher than my normal weight and the blood tests seem to confirm I'm tending hypo again.    I can confirm by the state of my nails, and I can also confirm by how 'heavy' or light my body feels;  I get breahless when either hypo or hyper, but when I'm hypo my body feels heavy to carry!

Hopefully it will all balance out for you soon.  I am happy with the synthroid - it just took a little while for me to see it as an ally, not an alien ;-)

I keep pretty active. I try to ignore the stuff but its like having a knife in your hand and pretending its not there.   I work out in the morning, and I run a million dollar company with 32 employees.  I am trying trust me.

Today i actually felt symptom free for a couple hours.  It was weird.   But then they came on about 3 pm.  so slowly i creep closer.

kristina - are you saying you had these symptoms but they went away?

I find that working keeps me mentally going, regardless of my symptoms. It keeps me from focusing on my aliments...

I get the headaches, body aches, heart pounding, hormones all over the place. (Just had a fully hysterectomy)..Moody...Cranky...

But I find that being around co workers cheers me up..They make me laugh. Work is stressful at times, but like I said, it keeps me going mentally..

If i were too stay home I would go crazy & just focus on my medical issues. I focus on problems work related but at least I am getting paid to do it is the way I look at it.

My son was recently in severe accident & suffered major internal injuries along with many fractures. I found that when I was focued on him pulling through that my symptoms never crossed my mind. It taught me that my symptoms won't kill me.

At least this is how it is for me.

I appreciated your comments to Bruce - I've been adjusting meds for over a year now (post RAI for toxic nodule), and have always just managed to get euthyroid when I have to adjust up again.  I have to plan for any big days of excertion, and find myself tired for a few days afterwards.

It's been great to get the good days, because I know I'm getting closer to them being more often.  However, I'm also really aware that I have to desensitize from the mode I've been living in, once my meds are balanced.    Your comments made me feel better about myself, and confirmed that once my thyroid stops dying off and my meds catch up with it - there will be an end in sight!

Wow Bruce, I'm not sure what dose of what you were on prior, and whether they were relative to the dose of synthroid you're on now;  but with a new drug, don't they taper out the old and taper in the new??

its more than working out. take a job at a subway or supermarket for a while like someone who gets out of rehab. it takes time to mentally and physically get back to the endurance of working keeping a schedule.  working out , being gym strong is a completely different thing then enduring a work day. dealing with people. that takes time to adjust to also. get back out there.

dude,  i work out every morning for an hour.   I have maybe missed 10 days total in 3 years due to vacations etc.   I feel fine when i wake up. Its a couple hours later when the buzzing starts.  I think im still on too much, but im not touching a thing right now as i know i have that whopping 345 mcg still in my system.   I would think that every day i am closer to dumping that huge dose out..

Bruce as you get better you have to become more active . go for walks build up your endurance its not easy. how long have you been unemployed?? now years at this point!!   your endurance is super low right now it will take months to regain. but it will happen just takes time. When i first went back to work it was hard  .i was exhausted but now its easy . it takes time to readjust , so i would slowly do some exercise, eat good diet, get good rest but start to push your self  walk a few miles a day to start. get more active get yourself back inthe game of life.

I have never heard of synthroid dosage being based on weight.

I weight 102 lbs and am on 200 mcg of Synthroid. I have never had a doctor mention anything to me about being based on weight.

My  D levels are up a little bit.  they were 26, now they are 50.  My B is about 800, that is looking nice too.

I have a mild background fatigue, but the majority of the fatigue hits me earlier in the day and then leaves.  I have heard others have this but it goes away.   I know i am being premature, IM thinking it will take about 8 months to see if this works, but im just trying to think hopeful for the future.

I started this new dose of 125 about 2 weeks ago, and im going to get tested on May 8  just to see how im doing.  But unless there is a drastic variance, i am going to try to stick on this dose of 125.

When i had my thyroid removed, the surgeon wanted to start me on .125 synthroid but i was on a compound.  The compound was relentless and i couldnt ever get in to see my DR. due to poor office staff and i finally said enough is enough.  I decided to try the most conventional method since i really never gave this a chance.  Im seeing a internal med guy, who is not into wackiness and im just following his lead and praying at the same time.

I lost so much weight on the compound, my rt3 was sky high, and I was hyper as heck.

You've been on thyroid medication long enough, even if you're on a new med, that you should have gotten past the fatigue point, if it were thyroid related.

Are you talking about a constant fatigue, like you get out of bed as tired as when you went to bed?  Or are you getting rested, but having periods of tiredness?  Total "body tiredness" or periods of drowsiness? I know, sounds crazy, but there's a difference.

Weren't you doing vitamin B12 shots?  Are you still? What about Vitamin D levels?
