thorat cancer

I was reading some of the other peoples stories about their symptoms.  I have some of the same similiar symptoms but not quite as much pain as they are talking about.  I have the lump in my throat with swollen glands and it hurts or is not comfortable when I yawn or open my mouth wide.  This has been this way since February and since then I have had influenza, stomach flu and strep about 2 weeks ago.  I no longer have strep.  But still have these symptoms.
I am just wondering what this could be?  My Doctor suggested seeing a throat specialist and I wanted to wait a few more weeks to see if the symptoms go away.  But they seem to be getting worse.

This discussion is related to neck/throat pain: possible post-viral thyroiditis?.

This is a thyroid forum, not a throat cancer forum. Often people mistakenly call the cancer in the thyroid throat cancer as the thyroid sits in the throat area. You would be best to post your question in the cancer forum.

My mouth is constantly dry and acidy taste from the acid reflux.  Also I have the ruff area in the back of my tongue and it comes and goes depending on the acid flow.  They look like little bumps in the back of my tongue and it fills ruff when I swallow.  What are the symptoms of throat cancer?  What do I have to look for?  Thanks

If I were you I'd call and make the appt.  Espeically in that your dr is suggesting this and you're curently having issues.  Being that it's a specialist, there might be a wait anyway.

Take care.

Where is the actual swelling? Is it centered in the neck. Did you doctor run any blood tests on thyroid?

With you having as many issues as you had - it is very hard to determine if this is any relation to thyroid disease.  I know the cold season is here and many step throat cases are present.

Try to call you doctor again and get labs done to rule out any thyroiditis.
