thryoid uptake results question

Does anyone have any clue as to what this means about a "blockage" on line 4 of this scan?  My doctor doesnt even really know what this means. My scan showed only 1% made it to the thryoid and something about a blockage:

"abnormal labs"

on 9-29 the patient ingested 486 icu of I-123 orally. The uptake of the scan was measured at 6 hours and 24 hours. at 4 hours, 4.5 of activity was recorded but at 24 hours only 1% of activity was recorded. These values are below the limits of normal and suggest that the thyroid gland has been blocked.

A thyroid scan was done 24 hours post oral ingestion with multiple scintigraphic images of the thyroid made. The scan is inadequate for evaluation with very limited amount of I-123 uptake limiting counts resulting in inaqequtely visualization of the thyroid gland.

IMPRESSION
1. the thryoid uptake values are within the hypothyroid ranges measuring 4.5 at 4 hours and 1% at 24 hours.
2. The scan is inadequate for evaluation due to very limited amount of uptake.

Did you eat any high iodine foods before your uptake?  That's a long shot I know.  Did you ask the doctor?

Potassium iodide (KI) blocks the uptake of radioactive iodine. KI supplements were in high demand when Japan's nuclear reactors melted.  Kelp, seaweeds such as kombu and nori, most shellfish, and sea vegetables can help protect the thyroid gland against radiation.
