thyroid attaks

Hi all
Hashimoto suffrer sine 2005
I can't tell you how i felt after a week of taking syntroid tablets (containing T3 which i bought from the net) I really felt better.
Then when I had a sore throat I went to see my doctor and after he gave me antibiotic for the cold i had I mentioned that I bought some syntroid tablet via internet because I'm fed up by being ill, tired etc.. even taking lovothyroxin. Well he then said that I shouldn't self medicate my self. and he then increased my lovothyroxine to 75mcg. when I asken how about having some T3 he said no t3 is really not essential. and that even when I explained that having syntroid which contains a very negligeable t3 I was feeling much better.
to cut the story short, I did what he said and started on 75 mcg on levothyroxine. The result I went back down hill.

Please can anyone tell me if you have these sympotms now and again.
It's weird whenever I dont feel well I notice that my knuckles swlell and some sort of ecsema on my knees and my elbow. and when i feel better they just disapear.
please help
thanks to you all for your support

What are your actual lab results -  TSH, Free T3 and Free T4?  Without knowing the actual results for your tests, along with the lab's reference ranges, it's very difficult to comment constructively on your question.

I do agree with your doctor about self-medicating -- never a good idea.  Secondly, I doubt seriously that product you purchased from the internet was true synthroid, because synthroid does not contain T3.

Again, without your actual lab results, including Free T3, I can't comment on the need for T3 med.

I couldn't say much about the T3, but, about the eczema and knuckle swelling, a lot of thyroid problems are rooted in an underlying auto-immune disorder.

I used to get pretty bad eczema on my arms when I was younger, though I never had my thyroid levels checked during this.

I'd be concerned about the knuckle swelling. If you haven't already, you might want to see a rheumatologist.
