thyroid depression mood swings?

My wife and I had a baby 4 years ago and ever since then my wife has been down. Shes been to doctors had several types of Anti depressants. She also been to Psycoligist, Psychiatrist and anyone else with P S Y at the start of their title. She had several blood tests and been put on Lithium aswell.
She is now off of all drugs.......everything. I dont think she is depressed, I think there is something wrong in her body.
The biggest problem with her is she can spend several weeks feeling perfectly fine and normal and then she'll spend several weeks rock bottom. Doesnt want to get out of bed, cant face the day, scared of just about everything ( which is a nightmare with a 4 year old and me with a full time job). When shes in this state I have to arrange babysitters because she's not capable of looking after our daughter.
We've started to see a hypnotherapist who has just given us an adrenal stress test kit which we will be sending today for testing. He THINKS it could be a thyroid problem, hence why I've posted on this site.
Can anyone tell me if you get the weeks of ups and downs like I've mentioned when you have a Thyroid problem?
Thanks

If your hypotherapist gave you a 24 hr adrenal test kit - but thinks it is a thyroid problem - then she needs to have blood work.

A TSH - Free T3 and Free T4 is needed to determine what or if a thyroid condition exsists.
