i have been without insurance since january 2010 and have recently won my disability case in may 2012 and none of my insurance started until aug ,2012, the last blood test was my t3 real low and tsh very high and they checked my tpo which was 150,they also checked my cholesteral which was extremel high, i have had thyroid test and have several on both sides of my neck, and that when she saw the muscle weakness in my legs i am currently finding doctor to help the last dosage was 2.00 in 2010 and they
said that i needed a endro conoligst due problems, i did tell them about the weigh loss they just say to me to eat more but if i have high cholesteral hwhy is my weight fluctuating so much which blood test should i ask them to do i think i have hashimoto disease and my thyroid needs another type to help me gain weight she said that my iron was fine, so i am confused on what to ask for, thank you all for helping me what to ask for
I have grave disease too (hyper) since 1992 lost alot of weight, according to doctors hypo and hypers are all iron and minerals deficiency. I used to experiencing trembing and shaking on my legs, sweating at night, rapids heart palpitations ,no energy, weakness, achy joints and muscle.Over the years my T3 and T4 flactuates everytime I had my blood test.Feels so deepress then can't hardly do nothing since your so weak and no energy. I started taking some supplement Iron ,B-Vit Complex.,Selenium and Magnesium. Deficiency in Selenium causes a decrease in the conversion of T4 to T3. However under abnormal conditions,a deficiency of Selenium can cause the body to increase conversion of T4 to T3.Selenium is a very important for proper thyroid function. Some hypo's maybe so deficient in minerals that they are close to becoming hyper espicially if you are experiencing night time rapid heart beat.Iron, B-Vit Complex ,Selenium is what you need to nourish your thyroid. For hypo stay away to foods like Soy items, the isoflavones in soy mimic thyroid hormone which leads your thyroid to imagine there is enough hormone in your body and to slow down production. Now that I'm taking supplement nourishing my thyroid I feel normal again and slowly gaining weight. My energy is back to normal.I still drink my synthroid as prescribe first thing in the morning as soon as you wake up and wait 1 or 2 hrs before I eat breakfast ,then after breakfast I would take my supplement B-Vit complex and selenium and iron. Some people are sensitive to iron and get stomach upset ,if that happened take at night.Hope this help you.
Suggestions until you could post some blood labs like Barb noted and only based on, having thyroid disease unmanaged or not properly treated can (and will) deplete or urn out other contributing hormones that work close with thyroid. In your symptoms - eliminating weight issues - I would consider talking with your doctor more about testing you for inflammation, depleted vitamin levels and deficiencies, magnesium tests, andrenal, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and ACTH tests for those issues you are experiencing, along with proper thyroid blood labs - Free T3, Free T4, TSH and TPOab TgAb tests.
So many things to clarify here reading this post. I was concerned right away reading 3 RAI procedures have been done. Is this right? Another question ringing would be about hypothyroid mentioned here but showing hyper (Graves?) symptoms still?
Do you have recent thyroid test results that you could post here, for us? Be sure to include reference ranges, since those vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report. You should be getting tested regularly for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4.
Are you on a thyroid replacement medication, such as synthroid, levothyroxine, etc? If so, which medication/dosage?
Fibromyalgia is a set of symptoms, for which there is no explanation. They often correlate with symptoms of thyroid conditions, and once thyroid levels are optimized the fibro symptoms go away.
Numbness in legs/hands, etc can be caused by vitamin B12 deficiency. I'd suggest that you get that tested.
Once you post current thyroid levels, members will be able to comment further on your situation.
