Yes. I did/do get spells of dizziness but my biggest issue was/is with the nausa feeling. Before my FNA I could do my 5 mile walk/run everyday without any problem. After my FNA I noticed day by day I would start to have nausa and would have to cut my walk/run short untill I just stopped doing it all together. I have a new treadmill that I can not use. I start to get a nausa spell before I even hit the 1 mile marker. I did notice that when I have the nausa spells my temp. is at around 96.7. When it 1st started I thought that I was getting sick and might have a fever but not the case. This is when I started keeping track of how I was feeling and what my body temp. was at the time. The other thing I noticed was that my milk intake was crazy. The milk seems to help my nausa but now I go through 2 gallons of milk in 3 to 4 days. Not sure whats up with that. My doctor refuses to talk about any of these issue until we deal with the cancer 1st. Which I guess make sense. One more thing... is after my FNA (within a week) under my arms started itching very very much. At the time I just thought it was a reaction to my deoderant but that was not the case..now that itching comes and goes. For me...Within one week of having my FNA I did not need a lab to tell me it was cancer...I could feel it as it grew even though the doctors found that hard to believe until they did the second ultrasound, then they knew that I was not crazy. The down side is because of this fast growth they are now concerned that my FNA DX of Pap. Cancer has went into hyper mode and has grown into anaplastic cancer. We wont know that until they get inside. Anyway..I do feel that if a person is really intune with their body they will know what it is and what it is doing. I beleive in my heart that the FNA had something to do with my cancer going crazy but there is only one documented case where the FNA resulted in the spread of the cancer so my doctors are just saying that mine is an aggressive form of cancer on it's on. Anyway... I do hope that all turns out well...95% of FNA come back benign...if it comes back suspicious...25% of those turn out to be benign on surgery. So the odds are good that every thing will be ok. It just ***** when you end up being part of the 5%.LOL
Did you experience any dizziness with yours? I have recently experienced dizziness and yesterday a strange pulling feeling at my neck..the first time!! Today I found out what is going on. Hoping and praying that everything will come back benign. Thanks for the book recommendation.
This is my experience and research.
When my knot was pointed out on my neck I did not even relize it was there but others could see it. I had no sore throat no tightness but did have a caugh..no biggy
All my blood test came back normal - (my reference book says that most thyroid cancer tumors will not effect thyroid test levels) 1 indicator
The other indicator.. is on ultrasound the knot/s are cold and solid.
On FNA the results where suspicious for Thyroid cancer. 75% chance
(other note is my WBC count was high)
The confirmation of the cancer came when from the time I had my FNA to the time I had my second ultrasound (12 weeks)(I refused to have surgery right away) the suspicious knot grew another 1cm. That is when the choking feeling and tightness was felt. I knew the cancer was spreading because you can feel it in your neck as it grows and pulls on your neck muscels like a pinching kinda of feeling and the pressure on the colarbone as the cancer makes its way down. My understanding is that benign nodels will not grow like this. The one nodule I had that was DX benign had only grown .3cm after 12 weeks and that could have just been a difference in messurment method from the 1st time.
So now I am waiting for the Doc. to call to set up surgery at which point we will find out just how bad it is. I guess that they can not determine that until they get inside and check it out.
So this my experience with Thyroid cancer so far.
A good book that I checked out from the library is> 2008 Current Medical Diagnosis & Treatment ISBN# 978-0-07-149430-4
I found this book very informative. Hope this helps.
I don't think that actual nodules have symptoms. For example, I had two and the only way I found them was that one was large enough for me to see when I tilted my head back (it created a bump in my neck). I ended up having one on the other side of my thyroid too, but I never would have known it had I not had an ultrasound. So, sometimes I don't think nodules have symptoms but that they can be a symptom of something else. It could just be nothing as well and certainly nothing to instantly worry about. I hope that helped!
Hi...I also have thyroid nodules....they were detected in April of '08...I've had 2 US on them and they have grown slightly.
I was told since I had the nodules I had Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
If/when the nodules get large enuff to do a FNA they will...to date I am not on meds because even tho I have this my ENDO said my labs were normal.
I am having a second opinion done later this month.
I am in no way well informed on this, and I am sure someone who is will jump in. I just want u to know u r not alone...this is very confusing to me as well.
Good luck
