well I saw the endo, and he said im normal all but the uptake and he thinks that's from my weight loss surgery, my body does not process things well and when it had available iodine it sucked it all up. the small 2.5mm x 3mm nodule he said was nothing to worry about but he orderd more labs and will see me again in 6 months. thanks for helping them.
TSH 2.010
T4 1.28 (0.78--2.19)
T3 146..0 (97.0- 169.0)
Actually, your symptoms seem more hypo.. even palps and anxiety can be hypo symptoms. Truthfully, though, your FT4 is a bit low in the range, but your thyroid levels don't look bad. It's unfortunate that your doctor ordered the Total T3 instead of the Free T3, so it's really hard to tell.
Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies? What about vitamin B12 - deficiency can cause horrible fatigue, as can iron deficiency. You should ask your doctor for vitamin B12, ferritin and iron panel.
thanks for responding the ref range for tsh 0.465-4.680, free t4 is 0.78--2.19 and the total 3 97.0- 169.0, I had a cat scan for another prob and they saw a 2.5mm by 3mm nodule on my thyroid the scan said nothing about it and the uptake was uniform in my thyroid, I see an endo tomorrow actually I think I have symptoms of both hypo and hyper, I cant tolerate cold, and my feet and hands get like ice, I was over weight but had weight loss surgery 3 years ago and have maintained my weight loss since then, I don't sleep well, have heart palp sometime and feel this low level anxiety too, I also am tired seems like all the time, but I am female and 52 and just started a new job so some of my problems I have explained away.
What are the reference ranges for the Free T4 and T3? Ranges vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report. Judging from ranges we, typically, see, your FT4 looks good.
Unfortunately, it appears that your doctor ordered Total T3, instead of Free T3, which is the active hormone, used by individual cells.
There could be a couple of things going on. You could have a toxic nodular goiter, a single nodule that's producing too much hormone, or Graves Disease.
Do you have symptoms of hyperthyroidism? If so, which ones? Are you on any type of thyroid hormone replacement or anti-thyroid med? What prompted this scan?
