Sorry u were right, left lobe of thyroid measures 4.6x 1.4 x 0.8cm with a volume 2.7cc & right side measures 4.9x 1.8x 1.5cm with a volume of 6.9cc. Also my strap muscle anterior to thyroid is absent on left side. Thank you for your comments.
According to the recent data in the US the average size of normal thyroid for adult female is 7.3 cu cm (ml) with the upper limit of 18 cu cm (WHO, 2002)
Are you sure you have not missed any decimal points?? even 25 cu cm gland is visible on the neck with circumference of 14 inches or less
A normal thyroid gland is 7-11cc per lobe. You have a goiter which is an enlarged thyroid gland. Not all goiters cause signs and symptoms but when they do they include a visible swelling at the base of the neck, tight feeling in the throat, coughing, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing.
