New endos can be a GOOD thing!! I'm glad that I dumped my first one (who was the chief of endocrinology) and went with one who will listen to me and treat me - not just my labs.
Thanks for your advice. I asked the last endo to check for adrenal fatigue and she acted like I was crazy. But I'm insist it when I go to the new endo on the 7th.
I have had to take small doses of ativan for the anxiety but what is working for me is Vit D3 and DHEA 5 mgs which is for the adrenals. Adrenal fatigue symptoms are very similar to low thyroid and need to be addressed, also. Ask your new dr to have them tested. According to your last TSH, you are hypothyroid. They suggest that when the TSH levels out, the anxiety and depression should subside, however, I am a strong believer in getting those adrenals tested. See what your new dr. says. Good luck.
My last blood test were done on 11/19/2007 TSH 6.4 and free t4 was 0.62. On 10/16 free t4 was 0.47, t3 was 90 and TSH 5.6. Radioactive iodione uptake done on 9/12 indicated hypothryoidism, normal EKG. Thryoid antibodies on 9/10 were 918 supposed to be less than 35. Free t3 on 9/10 was 3.26.
I have an endo but she said I did not need treatment because this diagnosis usually goes away. But then in Nov she decided to start the Synthyroid 50mcg and when I contacted her about the anxiety she suggested cutting them in have. Isn't there other thyroid meds out there that can help but not cause such a problem for people who are drug senistive. When I asked the endo she said no. Needless to say I have an appt with another endo on Jan 7th. Hopefully he will have more suggestions. As far as the depression and anxiety, I was on Zoloft for 7 years and was just switched to Celexa 1 week ago.
Have they done another test since 3 months ago? You should have had one 6 weeks or less after taking first one. You could be still hypothyroid and if you cut your own dosage you might be making things worse. When was your last blood test? It you post a little more info, we might be able to make some suggestions.
Please find a good endocrinologist. You need to be on thyroid replacement and perhaps antidepressants. All of this is normal for thyroid problems and postpartum. You aren't alone but your hormones need to be rebalanced.
