Hi, I just wanted to say I have had loads of thyroid symptoms including a premature menopause which has played havoc with my periods, but my results have remained in the normal range for a year. It is only now they have started to hit borderline abnormal so it can take ages for it to show up. Asked to be retested at frequent intervals.

Hi there from a fellow Melbournian! First of all, your profile shows you as male! Unless men have periods I think you better change that!
Do you  have your pathology test results? If not you can ask the doctor or even the receptionist for them. Mine were always 'normal' but I had periods all over the place and gained 30 kilos in one year for no reason. Turns out I have Hashimoto's Disease.(an auto-immune disease that attacks the thyroid) You can ask to have thyroid anti-bodies test done. Many Aussie doctors don't like doing that, but if you say, I want it, so do it. They will. If not, go to another doctor! We are lucky here and can do that easily.
What is 'normal' is yet to be decided. Get those results and stick them back here and we will have a look.
   Hope that helps!
