tsh results back ready for scan

I just got my tsh results back- it was 47!  I have only been off my thyroid meds. but on 5mcg of cytomel for 3 weeks now.  I was supposed to be off for 4 weeks but on cytomel and then one week with nothing.  It quite didn't work out that way. I will get my scan next week but I haven't been on LID.  I am worried that my scan won't be accurate.  It was 47 on Monday and now today, I'm sure it is higher.  I will get my scan hopefully by the first part of the week.  Any feedback?????  Did my doctor do something wrong?

I had my scan yesterday, and I thought the LID was standard, but I guess some doctors don't think it is necessary. I was on it for 2.5 weeks and hope it was worth it. I tell you, everything tasted pretty special today.  I'm driving my daughter crazy talking about how everything tastes.

Hopefully I don't have to do RAI.  Here's to a clean scan............

Tth low iodine diet gives more accurate results and greater effectiveness of RAI therapy.

Your doctor didn't do anything wrong - some of us with "overactive thyroid tissue" (or in my case, cancer) have TSH levels that climb rapidly.  They said it would take me about 5-6 weeks to have a TSH high enough for RAI (over 35) and I was at 76 after just three weeks.

I'd suggest doing the LID between now and a few days after the RAI.

Keep us posted and glow on my redhed friend!
