tsh was 22

I am new to this site.  I have had very fluctuations in my TSH while on synthroid alone.  I was on .225 mcg and yesterday my TSH came back as 22.  It has gone all over the place.  I can't remember the other numbers except the my free t3 was off.  My doctor call today (wanted to confer and investigate)and changed to 150 mcg sythroid and 50 of cytomel.  Just said to take in am with lots of water and not to eat for an hour.  Do you think I should split the cytomel into two doses?  I have gained 30 lbs in the last 4 months.  I am so tired that I literally have to push myself to move one foot in front of the other.  I have hopes that this will help.

Thanks for your reply.  My dr told me the numbers and  should have written them down.  Also, the last six weeks, until 2 days ago, she had me on Armour thyroid to be as close a dose as the sytnroid I was on.  When I was on the .225mcg of synthroid, my tsh was 3,93.  But my t3 was off.  That is why she put me on Armour.  It was the test after taking Armour that was 22.  Sorry I wasn't very thorough in my previous post.
Why no coffee?

I have read a lot about splitting the dosage because T3 is so powerful, so why not take 1/2 Cytomel in the morning and 1/2 at night? Very true about taking those meds on an empty stomach. Just an entire glass of water and NO COFFEE! Not even other meds, like heartburn, etc...

I recommend not eating after 5 pm and then taking the 1/2 Cytomel at nine, or maybe taking the Cytomel at 5 and then eating at six. You get the drift.

I really can't help you much without all of your numbers posted. The most important numbers are your FT3/FT4.

Take care...
:) Tamra
