ultrasound results

I recently had a thyroid ultrasound and not sure what the results mean.  It indicates that small lobulated heterogeneous right lobe, measuring 2.7 x 1.9 x 1.6 cm with hypoechoic solid nodules 7 x 6 x 5 mm at the midpole and 1.5 x 0.9 x .06 cm at the lower pole.  Left lobe is normal in size with heterogeneous echo pattern measuring 3.9 x 1.6 x 1.6 cm with a few hyperechoic solid nodules in the upper midpole with the largest measuring 10 x 7 mm and the second largest measuring 7 x 5 mm  Isthmus measures 2 mm

What does all this mean?

The results are indicating multionodular goiter with possible scaring tissue present [hyper-echoic solid nodules]. The hypoechoic nodules should be observed for size increase and changes; if after 3 months they increased in the size biopsy of the largest hypoechoic nodule is recommended. What are the results of thyroid function test [hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism or normal]?
The thyroid with such changes can be found after long term history of thyroid inflammation or rarely among the older people who grew up in iodine deficient areas and have had diffuse goiter early in the life.
