Clonazepam taper

I have been on 0.5 mg clonazepam twice daily (am and pm) following overmedication on synthroid.  I have been taking this medication for 7 weeks, and now my thyroid medications are slowly being regulated and I am feeling much better.
Cut synthroid from 175 to 88 and all the tremors, palpitations, sweating etc stopped, but the labs are not good.  TSH still high, Free T4 is good (middle of normal range) , but Free T3 low.  Dr added 5 mcg cytomel - been taking this for 4 days and already feel like a new person.
Would like to start tapering off the clonazepam. Thinking I might cut morning dose down to .25 and keep .5 at night for a week, then maybe try and stop the morning dose, or should I cut the night to .25 for another week, and THEN cut out the morning dose, leaving just one dose of .25 at night for a week or so and then taper from there.
Anyone have advice for me?  Thanks

Hi besst, As Stella says, better get with your doctor on that, but I can tell you, I too was on Clonazapam, but for about 7 years. I made the mistake of just stopping it cold when I wanted to get off of it. After the third day of not taking it, I had some bad reactions muscle twitching, skin crawling, couldn't sleep etc. I was not taking it twice a day but only 1 mg at bedtime.  So I started taking it again, but cut them in half.  and then after 4 days started taking the half pill every other day . then every two days then after a week every three days then stopped taking it all together, and now I am all good.

See what your doctor says, but I would cut the morning dose out liked you had planned, and then slowly adjust the night dose..

Hope that helps ..

tapering is best baby decreases would work. I think your plan you say above should do very well.

I also would talk it over w/ the doctor about this tapper - and suggest labs ran no later than 6 weeks apart for some time. You may - most likely - will need tweeking while eliminated this other medication
