autoimmune thyroiditis/adrenal problems???

Hello!
I am hoping that I can find someone out there that has more experience with this than myself! My 10 year old daughter came up with a strange rash (only symptom) and tested positive for Lyme disease in December 2006. She was put on one month of antibiotics and seemed fine. In March 2008 during routine bloodwork it was found that she had a low functioning thyroid (TSH was 69, but she was symptomless). She saw a pediatric endocrinologist and was diagnosed with autoimmune thyroiditis. They put her on Levothyroxine, and over the past six months she has been stabilized to 50mcg. This is a girl that has always been VERY healthy and energetic. Since she has been on the thyroid meds, she is tired all the time, gets sick alot and is very cranky. In October, when she was sick (again) she tested positive for mono, so I thought that was maybe her problem. Well, since then I have done some research on thyroid/adrenal problems, and think that she may have some adrenal issues going on. Is there anyone out there that has either experienced this, or knows something that may help me to know that I am going in the right direction? I have an appt. to see her doctor soon and am considering asking him to test her for adrenal fatigue/insufficiency (whatever).

Any information or input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Thanks for your response! I will keep the other possibilities that you mentioned in mind. She was checked a little over a month ago, and I believe her levels were 0.93, or something along those lines. They were within normal range. As far as the Lyme being treated successfully, I guess I don't know. He gave her the one month antibiotic treatment, and she seemed fine for over a year. If it was treated successfully, would it still show up later on a blood test, or does it only show if it is active? I am seeing her doctor tomorrow (not bringing daughter), just to talk about her treatment. The last thing I want is for her to be on more meds (I am not even comfortable with the thyroid med), but I hate to see her in the condition she is in.

Do you know what her thyroid hormone levels are?
Her TSH should be somewhere between 0.8 and 1.8.

Adrenal problems can go hand in hand with hypothyroidism, but it is usually a combination of stress and untreated hypothyroidism that leads to adrenal problems. Still, a few blood tests wouldn't hurt.

How sure are you that the Lyme was treated successfully?

It's possible that she may be deficient in vitamin D. That would be worth checking. Anemia, as well.
