UNDERSTANDING TOURETTES

i have a 8 year old son that has adhd,odd,ocd and aspergers while now his ped is thinking that he may also have tourettes. he does have alot of tics and wierd outbursts but i thought it was b/c of all the other problems that he is having. my question is how do i find a right dr to evaluate him and what causes this, or is it that he was born with it?
and what are the long term problems with this syndrome?

thank you so much for responding! Last friday my son was diagniosed with tourettes. he does have the outbursts, it aslo effects his nervous system. was ur school helpful at all? i am trying to get my son an IEP right now. and yes i will look in to finding a neorologist in my area.

   Hi. I am a 17 yr female. I have a small form of Tourettes. You will want to go to a Neurologist. This is a doctor that helps with your Nervous System. Tics are the main cause. Any kind of Nervous defect can really cause it though... Most people are born with it. I was, and yet it was not noticeable until age 6 or 7. Some Long term problems are outburst, flinching vigorously, or any other sudden moments.

well i done my research and i am 90% sure that my son has tourettes. thanks for input
