is there cure for tics

I am 50 years old male and have tics for the past 7 years. My neurologist runs an EMG, but it proved that my muscles are strong and there is no observation of any muscle disorder. He didn't impress upon me that what is the cause of my tics, execpt that he diagnosed that it is mainly due to stress.

I still have the tics occassionally, althought it disappeared temporarily when I go abroad for vacation or even just attending business fair. Is my tics considered a tourette syndrome? May I know if there is any natural nutrients to help alleviate it? Is there any remedy to tics.

Hi,
My son is twenty and was diagnosed with "transient tic disorder" eight years ago.  After many nightmare medications, the one that has turned his life around is a med called Topamax.  He has been pretty much tic free for eight years.  Please ask your doctor about it... maybe it will work for you too.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Best of luck!
Ann

Thanks for your comment. I have gone thru some of the comments in neurology forun and learned that indeed i don't have tourette syndrome. In fact, I dd also posted earlier in neurology forum. Unfortunately, I didn't get a response even until now. But I posted another query here and got a response, so I thought of this might be a friendlier forum.

Any way, thanks for getting in touch.

Best regards!

Try posting this to the Neurology Forum, as there are no specialists monitoring this site and I think you might get more replies and help there. With my own experiences in life, it does not sound like you have developed  tourette syndrom.
Good Luck to you,
Hugs & Prayers
