Can my 2 year old with concussion fly?

Hi,
My 2 year old had a concussion on this week. A very heavy door fell over her landing on her face resulting in bleeding from the nose and a biiiig fat lip. We took her to the ER where they said she did probably get a concussion. She did not faint or loose consciousness. She starting vomiting later and we went back to the ER, but as she was still quite active they did not admit her to the hospital.

Every since the incident 3 days ago she has been complainig about a pain in her eye - which we think is a headache. We are going to fly away on a vacation in 3 days and wonder if that is safe? It is a 3 hour flight, but we are worried about the pressure change on the plane. Can somebody advice on that?

In addition, we would be greatful if somebody can tell us when she can start reading again and watch tv.

Thank you in advance for your anwers!

Thank you for your comments. I agree that it is better to be safe than sorry and we were actually at the ER twice on the day of the incident, but they deemed it not necessary to take an MRI. I have called the physician to get his feedback, but he has not called me back yet.

While you are at the ER ask the physician if the vacation should be cancelled.

There are some troubling issues here.

Your daughter did not "probably" have a concusion. She had a concusion.

Normally parents are told if vomiting develops bring the child back immediately to the ER.

She needs an MRI and another evaluation at the ER as of two minutes ago.

Watching television is the least of your problems. If she has a subdural hematoma she may die.

I don't mean to be an alarmist, but it's best to be safe than sorry.
