I agree with researching anything and everything pertaining to my daughter's concussion. I have researched and that is why I was curious if you have had "fainting with a concussion".. Apparently, the Neurologists are a bit stumped that my daughter faints from Post concussion syndrome and does not have Epilepsy. She has had various tests and they come out negative. Thank you again for our feedback...
You are welcome.
The quick answer to your questions is yes. As a male growing up with 2 other brothers we were always doing something stupid and getting hurt. One time 1 of my brothers pushed me into the bathtub and I hit my head on the old hard porcelain soap holders ending up with a concussion. The next day while doing the dishes my vision went black and the next thing I remember is my mom dragging me by my feet into the living room.
My doctor said the same thing, it was do to the concussion and that I would be fine. I read in one of your post that your daughter was said to have Post-Concussion Syndrome after a head injury. I do not know how long ago that was but if you looked up what the doctor was talking about like I do when my kids health is involved. You might of seen that the syndrome can sometimes last over a year in some cases.
As for epilepsy, I have it. For me the cause was due to a brain tumor that killed part of my right temporal lobe and also effected my short term memory which drives my wife nuts. As for the EEG's if they were the short one, meaning about half an hour they might not pick up on seizures. If you have not done so already, you could ask about a 48 hour EEG or even possibly even a epilepsy monitoring unit for a week. I have had all of them and only once did they register I was having a seizure.
With all that being said, Please keep in mind that I am not a doctor and can only share what I know and have been through myself. I wish you and your daughter can get an answer.
Hi,
I appreciate your response to my question. Did you have a concussion? Are you familiar with syncope and head concussion? I have been to three Neurologist and they think it is due to the concussion, but lean towards epilepsy. My daughter has had three cat scans, two eeg's and an MRI.
Thank you
I you are asking if a concussion can cause syncope, the answer is yes. It could be what is called Post-Concussion Syndrome. If that is the case it normally goes away within 3 months. Go to a neurologist to get checked out to make sure it is not something really serious.
