Head injury to forehead

When I was real young (around age 4) I was involved in an accident where I cracked my forehead on a steel bed rail while jumping from bed to bed. I remember bleeding and passing out, but I don't remember much more after that. My mother has told me that I received stiches at the ER and was sent home that night. I have a vertical scar about one inch long across the middle of my forehead.

Since that time I believe I have had mental and physical problems due to this injury (anxiety, sleeping problems, weak left side and some more things), but have been told by a doctor that I am pretty much imagining things which I definitely believe I am not. I had a CT scan done (after some begging) by this doctor when I was 17 and supposedly it didnt show any signs of brain damage (it was looked at by an assistant I was told). I am 29 now and to this day I can see on my forehead a whiter shade of a line basically running from the left side of my forehead that goes through where the cut was, pass it about an inch and run down through to my right eye. This however can only be seen in a certain light, but I'm sure I could take a picture of it if need be.

I guess I am just wondering an opinion on this and what I should do / not do from this point on. I am wondering if even though no brain damage was found, if could it be something else and what would be recommended doing.

Thanks for your reply.  I actually seen a doctor on Friday and that is exactly what he recommended and I am having a test done tomorrow.  I'm suprised that the doctor who ordered me a CT scan when I was 17 didn't order a MRI, but whatever, such is life.

Thanks!

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Since you are having so many symptoms, it is necessary to get a MRI of the brain. There is a possibility that the injury in childhood has caused mild injury to frontal lobe of the brain. The other possibility is that there was an upper cervical nerve injury or compression. The third possibility is a sleep disorder. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. Take care!
