Please help and God Bless!

Hello, I had a cranitomy for an aneurysm on my right side in March of this year.  I have had no major problems just very tired.  Last week I fell down the basement stairs.  I did not go to the hospital, no blood so all good.  But  I am sleeping all the time, 16 hours at a time.  My incesion seems like it is gotten like a gap, wider where the screws are.  Also the area is very itchy.  I feel sick a bit.  I have a bump on my head, close to the incesion.  Next week I go for another cranitomy for my right aneurysm, and a little concerened because I am hoping nothing is wrong to delay the surgery, I just want all this over with.  I am a 54 year old female.  I generally heal very well.  My neosurgeon is a 5 hour drive away, should I tell him before my surgery next week that I fell.  Thank you for your help, I really need it .  Sincerely, Bonita

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes Please! In fact inform your surgeon immediately. Do not drive. Go with someone and get this examined. You appear to have suffered a mild traumatic brain injury or some infection or a bleed. Take care!

Did you have any loss of consciousness after falling? Are you having any other neuro changes (numbness, slurred speech, headaches)?

I would let your neurosurgeon know. He might want to atleast do a CT scan to make sure you do not have any subdural bleeding from the fall.
The biggest concern here is that you do not have any internal bleeding. If your incision were not healing properly your surgeon would have noticed this when removing the staples or at your follow-up.

I would definelty tell him. If the incesion is itching it could just be itchy but it could also be infected. I would tell your doc about the bump and the itching. I know you dont want to delay it but if its infected it could get worse and then you would have to wait even longer to get the other side done. Good luck

I would tell your surgeon anyway, just to let him know. You may not know what the fall could have caused, but he might and you want to be on the safe side. He may tell you that the fall did not delay your surgery.
