Husbands Is Not the Same

My husband is a logger and had a tree land on him three months ago.  I am not sure exactly if that is why, or when he started to transform before my eyes. I feel helpless.  NO matter what I say, I am picking a fight with him , according to him.  He becomes defense when I ask him any kind of questions.  Whatever I say to him, he turns and says it to me. I told him I was worried about him, and thought he needed to talk to someone. My uncle tried to talk to him, and he said, it is like the pages in his brain are turning to fast.  Within 10 minutes the idea he had, is now changes.  He is all over the map, all of our family notices, but they try to talk to him, and it's all me he says.  He says I need a psychitriast, not him.  His mom is scared he is becoming scitzophranic, as his father is.  He is family has a lot of mental issues.  He has also suffered with an addiction problems all of his life. Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Begin with a neurologist to get the brain injury assessed. Personality changes do occur when there is damage to certain parts of the brain. An underlying mental disorder can become more prominent after brain injury.
So though the idea of seeking psychiatric help may not be taken in easily by your husband, maybe some can cajole him into seeing a neurologist.Take care!

Well, there may be underlying problems that have nothing whatsoever to the tree incident.

That being said, a head injury that causes a bleed may damage the pituatary, which controls hormones. This happened with a singer from the "Beachboys" and turned him overnight into an irritable hard-to-live-with person. The case was documented in Scientific American.

If in fact, your husband suffered a blow to the head, an MRI and an MRA are in order.
