Rhynoplasty -

After having Rhynoplasty and septoplasty operation 4.5 months ago I am noticing a constant strong smell of peanut butter toast, which my grandson has every morning,  but I smell this at any time of day and night it is really annoying me.  It's as if I have it right in front of my face.

Does anyone know if this operation affects the olfactory nerves above the nose between the eyes.

Thanks

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Yes, any operation in the nose region can cause olfactory disturbances due to damage to olfactory nerve endings. Also any infection lingering in the nose after surgery can cause a change in perception of smell. Hence check this out with the ENT specialist once.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I smell smoke all the time, so I reckon you're lucky. The nasal equivalent of tinitus.
