what exactly is robitussin? how have have you been ttc? and congrats about the BFP have a happy and healthy 9 months!!
Thank you. The Robitussin I took is a cough and cold. It's supposed to thin out your CM and make it a better environment for sperm.
I have had very plugged ears and congestion for a long time and thought that the decongestants that I was taking was drying me up a little bit so I switched to Robitussin b/c I saw that other women actually use it to just loosen their CM. I also needed it though for the decongestant part so it served more purpose.
I took it from the point when I was still on AF and took it up until around the time that I ovulated. I was no longer congested so I didn't need it anyway.
Just to add....I noticed on the other forum. Someone had added info that I have never heard about before. I guess using Robitussin can cause cleft lip and palate and other things in your baby. I didn't know this when I used it. When I searched for info..I just found the good stuff about it helping CM...nothing about it being bad for your baby. So maybe it's something that shouldn't be used. I won't use it this time around...but I don't exactly need it since I'm not congested anymore.
You're only supposed to use the Robitussin up until you O, and some doc's say the day after O. The other Robitussin's with stuff other than Guaifenesin in it can cause some kind of problems but just plain old Rob' is ok. I wouldn't use it on a continuous basis like month to month but to try it for one or two cycles or so I think wouldn't hurt. I've read alot on it and as long as you take the recommended dose and do not take it after O way after O you're fine.
