BBT is basal body temperature. BBTs will show a pattern of low temps leading through ovulation and high temps once you've ovulated. OPK is ovulation predictor kit. OPKs only detect a rise in a certain hormone, but don't actually prove you've ovulated. That's why it's important to do both. BBTs are also incredibly helpful to know if you're pregnant, expecting AF, or if something isn't quite functioning as it should - all based on these temps. Good luck with whatever method you use! Baby dust to you!!
also I read about my cervical mucas and how it needs to be for it to be fertil and had been reading about evening primrose oil and how it is supposed to help to make it fertil and I started taking it yesterday and I can already tell a huge differance in it :) i am hoping that this works for me we are trying to conceive by the end of may...
I know alot of terms for ttc but I am not familure with BBT, or OPK? I have been using clear blue ovulatoin tests and they are great but how do I test for pre ovulation?
Around day 7 start tracking your BBTs (this tracks whether you actually ovulate) and day 10 start using OPKs - the one with the digital smiley face (this measures the pre-ovulation hormones). I found that I didn't ovulate until day 16, and here we were trying much earlier at days 12-14. That book mentioned in my earlier post is golden!
No sorry I am female my mouse must have jusped. I have started my period last night and I started taking evening primrose oil for increased and more fertin CM. I hope this will help out :) fingers crossed.
I must recommend the book "taking charge of your fertility" for helpful info. If you've read the book, follow its tips, and continue to experience infertility after another year, see a reproductive endocrinologist. Your public profile says you're 22 (male?) which gives you plenty of time to figure it all out.
