What causes small round blisters on the skin.

I began getting small blisters that both itched and hurt.  I got them all over my body.  When I went to the dermatologist they suggested that it was age related (in my early 50's) and that I should be treated by tanning bed.  They took a biopsy with no definitive results.  After the tanning bed...I get them less but they still come.  I am also now Vitamin D deficient.  Any clues out there?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Usually itchy blisters that hurt are due to shingles. But since you have it all over your body, it is difficult to say what is causing it. In females menopause could be a cause and hormone replacement therapy helps. Other than that it could be an allergic reaction to pollen, mold, dust, pet dander, synthetic fiber, food, cosmetics (powders, soaps, shampoos—see if anything was recently changed) or drugs. You must get an allergy test done, either a skin test or RAST, to know what you are allergic to.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hi,

This could be stress related or it may be an immunological issue like sarcoidosis.  Are u having any other issues beside Vit D deficiency?

could it be just an allergic reaction to something?
if the blisters look like pimples..it coudl possibly be hand and foot disease..but at your age that is unlikely.
