Where are these bruises coming from??

For, a while now I have been noticing strange bruises mostly on my legs and feet, only I am positive I have not bumped them or hit them on anything, they just appear out of no where. I am a Female 24 years old 5'5" and 140 lbs and a Mom of 2! I don't smoke, I am not on any medications and I am pretty healthy. I don't take aspirin which I have heard can cause easy bruising. I take the odd Advil when I have a headache, but other then that nothing! I have been to the doctor and told her about the bruising, she has sent for blood work but I guess it always comes back negative!
Any help you have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
If you are not on any medications like anticoagulants, blood thinners or birth control pills then this could be due to clotting disorders, low platelet count, fragile spider veins, deep vein thrombus, deficiency of Vitamin B12, folic acid, or Vit K, a liver disease or certain cancers. It could also be due to pressure urticaria. Lets wait for the results of the blood tests. You may need to discuss these possibilities and test for the above mentioned conditions.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hi,
Could you upload some pictures of the bruises? My wife had bruises on her legs (not on her feet) and they were not sure what was causing it. They were actually black/blue/green so it looked like she had hit herself pretty badly but she could not recollect it. She usually noticed them in the morning but was not sure if they were there the night before (and I don't think I kicked her at night :) After a couple of months they went away but periodically they still appear.

your iron could be low or you could have low potassium, get you some iron vitamins and potassium pills see if that helps

Hopefully, your physician has ordered a CBC (includes platelet count).  Platelets are important for blood clotting.  If they become low one can get generalized bruising.  And of course, you already know some medications can affect platelets causing generalized bruising as well as other things.

There are other coagulation labs the physician can order too, but usually physicians want to look at basic labwork first.
