Bumps on/around buttocks

I am a male and shaved the hair around the pubic area and the butt, including inside the cheeks of the buttocks. 2 months after that I started to get what seemed like pimples on the groin area, under the scrotum, on each side of the buttocks and in the anal area. At times the ones in the anal area itch. This is gross but I have tried to pick at them and have gotten, not puss, but a solid almost flesh piece out. Then it starts to bleed,, of course. What is this?

I hope if you're picking at them that you apply hydrogen peroxide to sterilize them draw out any infection.

Phil is 100% - razor burn or ingrown hair - and could also be a cyst or a boil (pictures or in-person examination would be critical for being certain).

When we shave, we may leave ourselves open to minor scrapes and cuts - this leaves room for bacteria to grow roots and cause an infection.  We also leave an opportunity for hair to grow in crooked and under the skin.

Google "Remington HC-5015" - they're the best pair of $15 hair clippers money can buy, and they cut so close (they'll leave the equivalent to a 5:00 shadow) that you can trim body hair close enough to be comfortable and feel clean but not be left with razor related irritations and side effects.  If you choose to continue using a razor for shaving, soak your blade in peroxide first for a minute or so to kill any surface bacteria, use an acne type face-wash soap to clean the areas you've shaved, apply a small amount of hydrocortisone after you wash up to prevent inflammation - and that will probably prevent most irritation - assuming you are shaving ALONG the direction of hair - and not against the grain.
