CTS plus numbness

My doctor has diagnosed my problem as Carpel Tunnel Sundrome but I am no convinced because I have also have a pain in upper arm and a neuralga type pain in lower inside arm. These pains are not muscular or bone related as I have no problem lifting or using arm in any way.  These problems started about 4 months ago after a cruise holiday which I returned with a bad cold and had been feeling very cold for the whole holiday. I have the usual symptms for CTS ie numbness and tingling in index finger and thumb. These symptoms occured in right hand and at the same time I experienced stiffness in feet and a certain weekness in legs though not delibitating in any way, I also feel more tired than usual  Can't get my head around it.  Any ideas?

Thank you for your comments which I have found very helpful.  I will ask my GP for B12 but I'm not holding my breath as they are always worried about costs!!! I am also taking Losartan potassium for bloodpressure which i  have only recently be prescribed and I am wonderingif this is causing my tingling feet and heavyness in legs.

Thank you MP, yes I've read about the problems that can occur when there is an imbalance of vitamins, especially the vitamin d, calcium and magney sium.  Due to my already existing kidney problems I am staying away from those until I can find someone to check all those levels, although I do have low vitamin d.  But without the B12, I don't know if I'd be here now, and that was at my insistance, because my levels were normal on a ref range of 211-970, my numbers were in the 600 range.  But with the problems I was experiencing, especially the breathlessness and mental fog, I insisted on the b12 injections.   ( I'd gotten accustomed to the carpel tunnel symptoms and no longer complained about that, because I'd been told that surgery was the only thing that would correct it)     The breathing issues, mental fog, and balance problems only went away after my initial boosting doses of the b12 and then the carpel tunnel syndrome completely went away.     B12 is one of the safest water soluble vitamins that you can get.  I've studied the toxicity of b6, but I wasn't taking that, only the b12 at the time.   I now supplement with b6 and b1 orally and the b12 injections.

Have you ever suffered with cts? had the surgery?

P.S.   Also research "Vitamin Therapy Used To Treat Carpel Tunnel"~

It's B vitamins that have been used with success.. It's documented research, so why, i wonder did I have to find this out quite by accident.  Of the numerous "specialist" that I saw for this problem surely atleast one of them knew about this study and the importance of B12 to the nervous system.

B12, b12, b 1 2, b12!   I too was diagnosed after 2 nerve conduction studies, 2 neurologist and one neuro surgeon with cts.  I also had the upper arm pain, pain in neck, shoulders and upper back.  Pain in right elbow was diagnosed as golfer elbow.  Told I had an impinged nerve as well as degenerative disc and bulged disc.  I'm so glad I didn't have the surgery to correct the cts or disc disease. My diagnosis was in 06.  Now just this year my problems became significantly worse with breathlessness, balance problems, vision blurry, mental fog, memory problems, insomnia and many more.  I was diagnosed with depression/ anxiety.  My vit D level was low and I was put on prescription Vit d3, but had little improvement.  So after researching I requested the b12 injections, even though my labs were within normal range.  My doctor agreed and wrote rx for me to give myself injections.   After my 3rd or 4th injection my neuropathy symptoms were completely gone and have been for over 2 mos. now.    I am still suffering from fatigue and some other problems, but the breathlessness and all the burning, tingling, numbness and pain that i suffered for years is completely gone!    You need to research b12, b1, b6 and read about malabsorbtion and why taking b12 oral supplements will not help.    It is like a miracle vitamin for me and I will never be without it again.   Please insist that your doc checks your b12 and that he does a B Serum and MMA test to get the most accurate reading of your levels.    Good luck~

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Pain of carpal tunnel can go up to the arm, all along the course of median nerve. Nerve conduction studies are quite diagnostic. Treatment is usually by splints and steroid injections. Surgery may be required in some cases. Other than this it could also be due to rheumatoid arthritis and gout. If you are a diabetic or have a family history of diabetes, this should be checked as diabetes can cause stiff joints of hand.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.Take care!

Some people have pain up to the shoulder when they have carpal tunnel.  The arm and hand symptoms sound like Carpal Tunnel to me.

As for your feet, were you off your feet a lot while you were recovering from your cold?  Stiffness can form relatively quickly if you're staying off your feet.  Ditto if you're not drinking water.
