Can anyone help with my problem

I have a problem with my mouth.  The symptoms that I've been having are dry, peeling, rashy skin around the mouth.  I also have blistering swollen lips every now and then.  I also am having to take deep breaths occasionally.  I went to the doctor and they gave me some antibiotics in carmex and told me to use that for what they think is cold sore disease.  I did use the medication but it seem to work for the swelling and blisters only.  It work a little on my dry, peeling rashy skin around the mouth.  After i was done with the medication, the next day i got my swollen, bistering lips back.  Can you help me?

that was excellent advise.  I had same symptoms, started taking B12 and was cured.  Went off B12 for one week and they came back.

Hello,

There are several possibilities that are coming in my mind.

Firstly,It can be due to vit B deficiency.Take some vitamin B complex for some days and see if your symptoms improve.
Secondly,it can be due to atopic dermatitis or eczema("Atopic" refers to a group of diseases where there is often an inherited tendency to develop other allergic conditions, such as asthma and hay fever). Cheilitis(Inflammation of the skin on and around the lips)is often seen in atopic dermatitis.Diagnosed by bld test like RAST.Treatment is by topical steroids or oral therapy of corticosteroids in severe cases.Topical creams like tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) and pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are also useful.

Thirdly, herpes can be a possibility.Diagnosed by swabs and blood test like herpes select or western blot.Other possibilities are Crohn’s disease(Granulomatous cheilitis, a lumpy swelling of the lips, can be a symptom) and sjogren’s syndrome(an autoimmune disorder in which immune cells attack and destroy the exocrine glands that produce tears and saliva).

Pls consult a dermatologist and discuss these possibilities.Till then keep your skin and lips moisturized and take adequate fluids throughout the day.

Hope it helps.

Take care and regards
