Totally agree with what Demi says it can be pretty painful sometimes.
I was better fast & that 1 attack was a real lulu. Nutritionist
said ok to use that stuff but I was just like you mentioned.
It needs to be fine-tuned. I have dried fruit (few apricots & 1
prune) in a.m. or 6 oz prune jc. Dried fruit is easy. Also take
1 tablespoon 'ground' Flax-seed meal daily. That has actually boosted my red cells & I felt better after a few weeks. Love
broccoli/cabbage/brussels but I have 'very' small portion. Any
heavy gasey foods. I'm older now so I'm more cautious. I really
thought I was going to die & it was gas! (actually a kink), but
nevertheless, it brought me to my knees. My emergency is still
being talked about. Like we all don't pass wind! Gd-luck.
I have one final question, dose this effect your stool at all?.
I take metamucil, And my stool's have been slimy with mucus. Today it was a dark colored and a compleate jelly.
The surgeon didnt say anything about this.
hI RIC SOUNDS LIKE WHAT I SAID MOST PEOPLE DONT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THEM AND HE DOESN'T WANT TO DO SURGERY WHICH IS UNNESCESSARY AS ALL OPERATIONS CARRY A SMALL RISK. hOPE YOU FEEL A BIT BETTER SOON . TAKE CARE CHRIS
He just told me that i had a few small (pockets). And that the threat provided by surgery was greater then preforation without.
I'll be sure and read up, i'll have to get a list of good's and bad's for food.
Thank's for posting chris.
Oy...i could kiss you.
Throughout these last few month's i havent recieved the reasurance from family, friend's, dr's, and surgeon's that your post gave me.
What was odd is my pain's and such happend at a time just before Gallbladder sugery (which was cronicly inflammed). The pressure/pain i would get was alway's in my appendix area on either or both the left or right side. Stomach distention and alot of belching and gas....without any reason.
Anyway, my family DR has recommended me to a Gastrointestinal Specialist (she is yet to be informed of my condition), My surgeon will fill out a report and send it to her, which should be in about a week or two.
Anyway's, thank you.
Just read your other post whoever told you 1-2 % youd die from surgery thats rubbish unless you have another condition which complicates surgery. I had surgery to remove some of mine when I had appendicitus. Think they got infected or strangulated that was almost 30 years ago and as you will gather I,m not dead yet. Hope this eases your anxiety. Take Care.
Hi if you read a few of the posts on here quite a few young people have diverticuli myself included I was in my twenties when diagnosed. . Demis quite right read up on diets. Although its acondition normally associated with bein over 40 yrs it is thought to be a congential condition basically your born with the small pouches. Most people never have any trouble with them as long as they eat a sensible diet. Take care Chris
You are correct w/ the age thing. A close friend has dealt w/
this for 30 yrs. At your age, you can change your diet & even
sometimes correct the problem. Muscles tighten/tone to support
body changes if you don't have alot of attacks. The kraut is
high-acid/fermented/stringy & fits in those little places to
start the cramps. Read up on the latest do/don't & you'll have
many happy days. I altered diet 1 yr? & blew caution to the
wind! One morning I was curled up on floor in agony unable to
get to phone. Finally did & ambulance came. I couldn't even lay
flat. Paramedics pushed on lower left abdomen & snickered! I'm
dying & they're grinning. Joke was on me. Hospital did ultra-
sound/exam/questioned & put moist heat on me w/ a few pills to
pop. 10 min. later some doc came in & said 'this is the big
emergency!' It's intestinal blocked gas! I thought I knew gas
but this was a trapped bubble. A special drink to take home &
next morning it felt sooo good. Friend said now you know! I now
stick to simple home-cookin'. The more I moved, felt like an
ice-pick. Later got things checked & was told I have an unusual
'turn' that may get trapped again. I now drink lots of water to
make sure things flow completely. Said my divert was spasming.
