Constant Tiredness?

Hello
I'm a 20 year old male. I have been having problems with tiredness lately. I have always been someone who has needed sleep, but lately, I seem to need a lot more. I try to get 8 hours a night, but if I get less, I feel very drowsy in the day. I seem to need about 10 hours to feel good and alert. I have felt fuzzy-headed a lot lately, and my ability to concentrate on any work that is not of absolute interest is almost impossible. For example, I wrote a great lab report 4 months ago, and now, I'm struggling with just getting simple bits done on a second one.
I have noticed that I seem to be dreaming a lot lately, I can remember a dream (and apparently long ones) every night for about the past three months.
Is there something wrong with my sleep pattern? Or my health?

Thanks for the info. I have booked an appt. tomorrow, and hopefully they can do some of those blood tests if necessary. I will try to keep this thread updated.

You sound like you need a physical and labwork done. It could be something as simple as a vitamin deficiency or a metabolic disorder. I would consider asking your physician to order these labs on you:

vitamin B12
CBC/DIFF/PLCT
Chem 20
TSH
EBV (Epstein Barr Virus)

If you have any other symptoms later on, such as a sore throat, severe headaches, muscle aches and/or joint pain.... consider asking your physician about CFS.

I don't have allergies that I know of (except mold, but that isn't the case here I don't think).
I don't feel refreshed when I wake up, and find it harder than it used to be. I end up turning off both my alarms and usually falling asleep again for 20-30 mins before I can get up. I seem to be able to go straight back into whatever dream I woke up out of.
No other symptoms that I can think of, just lack of concentration and feeling generally tired and zoned-out.

I would consider getting tested for sleep apnea. But also... do you have allergies ? When you wake up... are you refreshed ? Do you have muscle aches or any other symptoms ?
