Well, some patient have few to no symptoms for Hepatitis, in particular chronic Hep. I would have it ruled out since you have this spleen situation going on.
No I have not been screened for that since I was prgenent 2 years ago. I read about it, but I don't have any of the symptoms of that. I was just chasing my little girls around and got so winded and had to stop.
I don't think the ER will be sending you back once they know what is going on; if they do, I will be totally surprised. Going to the ER is your judgement call. In my opinion, you should have been hospitalized and GI consulted to see you IN the hospital.
You said you had EBV, which might be doing a number on your spleen, but have you been screened for Hepatitis?
Yeah they are now just getting me into a GI doctor. I actually just got the call today. My appointment is next friday. Hope I can last till then. I have been watching my activity ever since I found out about my spleen. But I have been having to stay away from my daughters, so that they don't kick me, and watch how I drive. Cause they said that one blow to my spleen could rupture my spleen. I just hope and pray that nothing happens until I get into my GI doctor next friday. But it has been hurting me for the last couple of days. I just don't want to go to the ER and sit there for hours and then get sent back home, but then again I don't want to wait till it is so bad that I have to be rushed there by ambulance. Besides the ambulance may not make it to me in time. They hae no idea why my spleen just keeps getting bigger, they have tested me for all kinds of cancers and nothing. I know that I have ebstein barr virus, but tested neg for mono. So they say that my spleen should have went back down to normal size, but instead it just keeps getting bigger. Frustrated and scared, an don't know what to do.
An enlarged spleen for the last 10 months and your physician is just now sending you to a GI Specialist? And then the NP asks you "how big are they going to let it get?" That is ridiculous.
Not to scare you, but this COULD turn into an emergent situation for you. A ruptued spleen could be life-threatening. Be extremely careful with your activity.
Please seek emergent care if you get worse. That will be your judgement call.
All the best.
I am anemic. but any cancer has been ruled out already. I have never been out of the country, so I can't have malaria. I have already seen my pcp, they have referred me to a GI doctor, I have an appointment next Friday. But I am still having pain in my upper left side and tired all the time. Also I am real shaky here since Wednesday, is that anything to worry about? I just generaly do not feel well.
