Epstein Barr....Help!

I am a 26 y.o. male who has recently been diagnosed with Epstein Barr. I have been doing a lot of research on-line about this condition but there is so much to read that it is very overwhealming and my doctor has just given the "basics". I currently have had swollen & tender lymph nodes in my neck and groin for 4 months, I get very odd headaches, I have a lot of sinus pressure, and I get very tired easliy. I have recently developed canker like sores under my tongue. My HIV status is negative. I have had my blood work drawn for the past 6 months and my white blood cell count has been elevated and all my other lab work is normal. My doctor recently has stated that I need to see a hemotoligist (sp) because of the white blood cell count and an ENT for my lymph nodes as they have stated that they are 99.9% sure it is nothing cancerous. I would like to know if the pain in my neck and now going up the back of my neck is normal? What are the other syptoms that common affect people with EBV? I guss I am just looking for some answers for people who actually live with this? Does it get better?

Hi Scott
I am a 35 year old female that was recently diagnosed with Epstein Barr. I mostly have the fatigue and pain chest (which is interesting you noted you have seen that as symptom as i have not come across anything mentioning it as symptom).  I just today decided to make appt for naturopathic doctor although not sure how quickly I can get to one.  Would love to compare notes as we are both recovering.  I was under the weather for 3 weeks without being diagnosed properly and was told to continue doing cardio etc which didnt help the cause. I then rested for a week and was feeling better (while visiting parents in Fla)-I then flew back to Colorado and moved from Telluride to Denver three days later and all the running around with traveling and moving has set me back.  I normally work out 5-7 days a week so I am anxious to get better!  But feel like my fatigue level has remained the same all week.  Keep me posted...although it sounds like the naturophatic remedies are probably specific to each individual...good luck!

I just want to share my experience with Chronic Epstein Barr Virus (CEBV).  I have had Chronic Epstein Barr (CEB) for about 2.5 years now.  My main symptoms were mainly tender lymph nodes especially in the groin, light fever, muscle pain, odd burning sensations in my legs and arms, dry mouth, funny taste in my mouth, sleeplessness and fatigue.  At about the same time my brother was also diagnosed with CEB but suffered slightly different symptoms.  He lost about 10kg

I am 38 and have just been diagnosed with EBV.  I think I have had it for quite some time but did not get to the dr as I should have.  I have had severe pains in both arms and legs, swelling of joints, night sweats, numbness and tingling in both my hands and feet, swelling of my eyelids in the middle of the night and back spasms at all hours.  I have 3 young children and work full-time and I am exhuasted and scared because I cant keep up with all of it.  I have been referred to an infectious disease dr and I am praying he can give me some answers and will test me for every possible thing this could be triggered by.  I am finding it almost impossible to function and I am so discouraged.  I am just learing about the virus and realized that I had mono when I was 16 and that it has been dormant in my system ever since that time.  I have been under a tremendous amount of stress the last 3 years and I am pretty sure that was a trigger for all of this.  I will keep good thoughts for you and for all of you out there that are suffering with this thing! All my best-Jenniegirl68

please see dr. martin lerner or dr. jose montoya or one of the CFS specialists before its too late. i waited 14 years after my mono to get help and it looks like it might be too late for me. i listened to the docs around me who told me it would go away or i was crazy.. and now i am VERY sick.

please get help now. if you get on the appropriate antiviral there is a great chance you can recover.

I have been sick and fatigued with various symptoms for going on 4 years now.  Many tests and only things found were low b12, and positive EBV.  My doctor said the EBV was indicative of a past infection; of which I don't remember ever being really sick at any one point.  My doctor said that it would always be positive and didn't mean it was a current problem.  Is this true or should I consider the EBV a potential cause of the fatigue, tiredness...?  Also Safa1 I do have odd burning sensations in hands, legs, and even buttocks that tend to go along with red areas when I sit or have pressure on them.  The redness and burning disappear after awhile of removing pressure.  Is this sort of the burning you described above?
