Feeling terrible for 2 months

I went to a new doctor in February. At that time I was taking 50 mg of Atenelol per day for heart palpitations, nothing more than OTC acid reducer. The new MD prescribed Hyzaar for HPB. I had horrible feelings so we cut it to half per day 25mg and 25 Atenelol. I still have days that I cannot function, I feel heavy in my head and chest and just have no energy at all. I have great days and horrible days but lately more horrible days. I just don't feel right. I have also added 5000 Vitamin D and multi-minerals to my daily regimin. I just don't know what else to do. I have been to the ER with low pulse rate and they ran some blood test and did x rays and found no heart problems. Could it just be the medication? Is there an alternative to the Hyzaar?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Increased heart rate, restlessness etc can be due to Hyzaar. Yes, there are many other drugs besides hydrochlorothiazide and losartan (Hyzaar) which can be taken for high blood pressure. Please ask your doctor to change Hyzaar, maybe increase the frequency or dose of Atenelol as it was suiting you.
However, please do not make any changes yourself. Buy a home recording BP instrument and keep a check on your daily blood pressure in the morning and evening.
Take care!

First of all, research your meds--even if you think they are insignificant.
Vitamin D and multi-minerals will effect your heart rythm. There is a fine balance to be kept when you are dealing with vit D, calcium, magnesium, etc...
Hyzaar can cause unusual tiredness, along with a lot of other things. (it does not mean it is the cause, but it can cause it)
