Admirer has provided some good advice. And made a good point about simple dehydration being the primary cause of slightly lowered blood pressure in an otherwise healthy individual, especially in summer when a person sweats a bit more.. Water alone is not enough to correct this.. Electrolytes are needed.
For your age, if otherwise without symptoms, your blood pressure and heart rate are within normal limits and nothing to be concerned about. Lowered blood pressures are common in athletes.
As doctornee stated, dizziness, loss of situational awareness, undue fatigue and weakness may suggest a closer look at things.
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
This maybe normal BP for you or it could be that you are symptomatic. If you have dizziness, or fainting or blackouts, then yes, you need to get this checked. Otherwise just increase your fluid intake slightly. Hope this helps. Take care!
Unlike high blood pressure, low blood pressure is defined primarily by signs and symptoms of low blood flow and not by a specific blood pressure number. Some individuals may have a blood pressure of 90/50 with no symptoms of low blood pressure and therefore do not have low blood pressure. However, others who normally have high blood pressure may develop symptoms of low blood pressure if their blood pressure drops to 100/60.
Do you feel lightheaded, dizzy or faint?Going from a sitting or lying position to a standing position often brings out symptoms of low blood pressure. This is known as orthostatic hypotension. Do you have chest pain? If you experience any of the above symptoms, go see a doctor, because low blood pressure might be the root cause of it.
If low blood pressure causes clinical symptoms, the cause will be in one of three general categories. Either the heart is not pumping with enough pressure, the artery walls are too dilated, or there is not enough intravascular fluid (intra=within + vascular= blood vessels) within the system.Low intravascular fluid can be caused by dehydration. Dehydration is the most common cause of orthostatic hypotension.
As long as you don't have the symptoms, you needn't to worry. Let me know If I could be of any further help.
